ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY

I live in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. My father gave me my first Dobermann when I turned 13 years old. From that moment on, my life has always been connected to the Dobermann breed. I never really knew why my father chose this breed, but I do know that he could not have made a better choice. I always knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian and that my life would be related to animals.

In my first year at veterinary school, I met Cristina, who would later become my wife. We both studied and completed our degrees together, got married, and have two wonderful children: Ignacio and Mariana. We run a family-based and carefully selected Dobermann breeding program, and we are the owners of the Baden Baden kennel. Professionally, I work in small animal clinical practice and surgery, and I have particularly specialized in canine reproduction, kennel management, and everything related to show dogs.

My first Dobermann was named Atila Von Argus, and I began by presenting him in obedience trials. With him, I obtained numerous working titles, even winning the Dobermann Club Argentino obedience ranking for several years. Later, I trained another outstanding Dobermann with whom I also achieved the Argentine obedience ranking. His name was Ali Khan de Doblado Grande. He has the unique distinction of being the only Dobermann to have won, in the same year, both the conformation and obedience rankings of the Dobermann Club Argentino in 1979.

In 1977, I passed the exam to become a Working Judge. Shortly after, I became interested in breeding and conformation competitions. My first experience as a breeder was alongside Mrs. Arminda San Martín, owner of the Mandinga’s kennel, with whom I co-bred. For 10 years, we bred magnificent Dobermanns, including Mandinga’s Farah Roja, winner of the conformation ranking in 1984 and the Top Twenty 1985 of the Dobermann Club Argentino. During those years, I handled and prepared my own Dobermanns. In 1986, I passed the exam to become a Dobermann Breed Specialist Judge. When Arminda retired from the canine world, I continued breeding under the name Baden Baden.

Together with my family, we have bred numerous Dobermanns that have won Specialty shows, Best in Show awards, rankings, Top Twenty competitions, and National events. We have had the privilege of breeding Am. Ch. Baden Baden Ornella, who was twice awarded Opposite Sex at the Doberman Pinscher Club of America National Specialty in 2003 and 2007, and winner of 41 Best of Breed awards and 4 Best in Show awards in the USA, finishing in 5th place in the rankings in 2003. Arg. Ch. Baden Baden Cash was, for three consecutive years, the winner of the DCA Top Sire Ranking. His sister, Baden Baden Caira, was the dam of six champions, earning her the Top Brood Bitch ranking.

Baden Baden Frodo holds the rare distinction—achieved by very few sires in the history of the breed in Argentina—of winning the National, the Top Twenty, and the DCA Conformation Ranking, in addition to earning Top Sire Ranking and Best Progeny at the 2013 National. Baden Baden Zenyatta, winner of the DCA Top Twenty 2016, DCA National 2018, Best Female and #2 in the DCA Ranking 2018, and #1 Puppy Ranking of the CBRD (Brazil) in 2016. We have bred several winners of the DCA युवा (Young Dog) Ranking, such as Baden Baden Jethro, Baden Baden Frodo, Baden Baden Olga, and Baden Baden Zenyatta. I have always remained connected to training, breeding—together with Mr. Roberto Maggiolo—Baden Baden King, who in 2006 became the first Dobermann in Argentina to pass the Schutzhund III.

At the same time, I became interested in organizational work. I served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the DCA and as Breed Director. In 1986, I participated in and organized the first Top Twenty and the first National Specialty held by the DCA. In 1996, I served as President of the Dobermann Club Argentino and created Dobermann Express, the official DCA publication. I have written numerous articles related to the breed and cynology in general. I am the author of the Illustrated Manual of the Dobermann Breed and the Illustrated Manual of Cynology of the Argentine Cynological Federation. For six years, I was a member of the FCA Judges Council and participated in the training of numerous judges. Since 2001, I have served as National Director of the Genealogical Registry of the FCA, a position that honors me due to its responsibility.
